~Welcome~
Unfortunately,
due too extended work commitments, we were unable to fill
our dance card with shows in 2008. It was certainly a
disappointment considering the overall quality of this years
kid crop and the better than average mammary systems. We
were blessed with some long awaited doe kids from the likes
of Vanity, Pin-Up Girl, and Grandma.
So, with no
show news to report, we are going to take this opportunity
to update & brag a bit on our 2008 kids!
Vanity
gave us her standard flashy, correct, kids, two of which
when on to be 4-H wethers, and the 3rd, dubbed
Vogue has taken up permanent
residence in our doe herd. Vogue is a kid you just can't
help but take notice of - we fully expect her mature into
something special. With mom's body, and Dad's incredible
milking background, this little doe isn't going anywhere any
time soon.
Pin-Up
Girl (PUG) left our herd and went to another
milking/show home but left behind a stunning legacy with her
daughter Dita Von Teese.
Dita is on the small side, but is as wide as she is long
behind, and super deep. While she's plain jane in the color
department, she stands on the same excellent feet and legs
we adored her mother for.
Grandma
gave us what has turned out to be our favorite kid of
season;
Morning Glory, or as she is lovingly known
in the barn "Glory Bean". Glory, is a real growthy doe that
we plan on making a yearling milker for 2009 - she is
correct, super flashy, and just a doll to work with. Glory
is the kid everyone wants to take home when they visit! Lest
us not forgot her brother however,
Oleander was just
too nice to be a wether, and we feel it is in our best
interest to let him prove his worth by covering a few does
this fall.
Calla,
also left us and now resides with the Critter Croft herd,
where we hope to secure another quality cookie cutter
daughter from her in the future. Calla left us both a son
that when on to 4-H glory as a wether, and with a doe kid (Super
or "Widget the Midget") that is in a word, stunning. We have
a hard time picking who we like better, Widget or her half
sister
Calla-Forina.
Chocolate
Thunder gave us her usual:
"Business Class" is going to
be a late bloomer, just like her half sister
Forbidden Assets,
but she is a top notch kid from head to tail. She
is a demure, classy little doe that is really going to be
a knock out when she comes into herself - want proof? Take a
look at Forbidden......
Bella
was the 2nd girl to freshen this spring, and it was a
learning experience through and through. Bella had an awful
time kidding, and it required not only vet assistance, but
weeks of taking it easy. One good thing to come of
Bella's rough go of things is her buck kid
Bert Reynolds.
After seeing Bella's STUCK ON udder, there was no
doubt we would be making room for this buck kid. He is an
improvement over his mother in both length, and height, as
well as angulation. And with his dad being none
other than Sugar Creek RC Willful, if he doesn't throw
udders, than I'm at a loss at what will.
Kashmere freshened
like a pro! What a shame we were unable to campaign this doe
as a yearling milker - I truly believe she would have been
the one to beat. Kashmere's first freshening udder was snug,
with commendable capacity, and breeze to milk. Her 2nd
freshening udder should really be something! Our
little girl has grown up, and she has what it takes to be
fabulous.
Godiva
had a strange delivery having to be assisted with the first
kid, a doe that unfortunately died shortly after delivery.
She then gave birth to a very small, but extremely lengthy
buck kid. Then, while we were on a feed run (HOURS later) we
came home to find she had given birth to a teeny tiny buck
kid who was apparently DOA. Despite the difficult kidding,
Godiva's udder was beautiful, snug, and so very milkable.
Godiva herself, is a bit a twit with a less than pleasing
attitude (she is a half sister to Vanity and they could not
have more different personalities!). But, with any luck, she
will earn her keep by producing more awesome kids like our
very own Willy Wonka.
